He's left in full control of his mind, but still a dead man walking - and with the energy animating him declining.

So no Brainzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I wouldn't mind watching him eat Gwen's brain. ;-) No, only kidding. I'm actually growing a little fond of her.

So it's like he's been charged up by the 2nd risen mitten and it's depleting?
Hm. I wonder who/what will intercede on Owen's behalf?

It sounds as if Martha didn't have much to do in this ep. I wonder what the future plans are for her?

They've doen a great job this season of redeeming/fixing all the characters, I think, including Gwen.

They seem to have left him that way as a contrast to Jack, who we know won't deplete for millions of years. Owen might get thirty years or thirty minutes. They justdon't know yet, but next ep seems set on exploring the consequences still further.

She didn't and I'm not sure. They seem to have set her up as a potential long term replacement for Owen in the medical officer niche who knows the rest of the team too, but whether they'll act on that who knows but Rusty and he ain't telling.

This series is much better in terms of how they've handled the characters. I'm glad I started watching in S2 as I suspect I probably wouldn't have made it through S1. Now I watch those eps as a research project and I'm much kinder in my assessment. :-) I find myself becoming a big Rhys fan (as long as we keep it to a little going a long way) and he softens Gwen for me so I do find myself enjoying her (except when she's making eyes at Jack while kissing Rhys).

I like the idea of a contrast between Owen and Jack. I also like that we got some Jack/Owen moments in this one as they have been few and far between this series. But poor Owen -- no sex! I wonder what this means for Oosh. Or Towen. I am indeed shallow in my concerns but in my own defense it seems to me that Owen's emotional arc almost requires him to pursue some sort of mature romantic relationship to help heal his mummy issues.

It's very Angel I guess to explore what will essentially need to be a platonic relationship (if it moves forward at all). Heh. After Owen gets over the crisis of trying to figure out how to live feeling as if his soul has been damaged (that was the sense I got of things but may be wrong) I guess this won't help Owen's relationship with Ianto when he eventually finds out how much sex Ianto is having with Jack. No much Ianto in this ep but that makes sense as I've gotten the feeling that Owen really doesn't care much for/doesn't respect him.

I'm not sure I like the notion of Martha. I do like the character but she's just DW to me not TW so it feels a bit like she takes over. I must say that the actor is quite wonderful, though.

Thank you for bearing with questions from someone who hasn't seen the ep. Hopefully when I get home from travelling tomorrow I can watch it. I too will have Buffy issues but it sounds from what you've said as if they will be manageable.

I enjoyed quite a few of the S1 eps, but they didn't grab me until the TARDIS sound at the very end. But I always went with the lots of shows have a rough first year - especially spinoffs. ATS certainly did and that got better.

They've been doing some great exploration of the characters by shadow doubling, the more so since its been explorations of both characters rather than just hte lead a la ME. I hope O/T do try adn get there. At least she's not calling him horrible names and loves him, so there's hope. Eeep. Has said the hope word - has more ME flashbacks of traumaness.

This was definitely an Owen ep, as it should be, and it makes sense that both Ianto and Martha were sidelined as they're just not that important to him/tied to him as characters. But it was good that they weren't ignored.

I'm not sure about Martha in the mix either, especially with the female lead impications it would bring.

Rhys is adorable.

I found it cathartic as it seems to be another example of Team Cardiff taking what Joss got wrong and fixing it.
