With Doctor Who when you're watching Lost and and they get the hidden roll of film out of the bible and you're going OMG! Lost Dalek Story clips and telling them to stop buggering around with blast doors and ancient computers and start looking for lost Two serials and Dalek Master Plan episodes. I mean, that entertainment stash has been down there since before the junkings...

With regard to the rest of it, I do have Ana-Lucia Issues. And it's not that I hate 'Strong Women Characters' I love strong women characters. I just don't think she is one. Strong characters aren't bullies just as they aren't abusers. That's a sign of a weak character and that's irrespective of gender.
Then there's also thrown in my issues with regard to a cop being a cold blooded killer - which is that they're a cop. I expect a higher standard of morality - even when it's hard and personal - from a cop than a con-man. I'd have respected her seeking justice - and IDing the guy so the case could go to a court of justice.Denying a day in court and blowing him away, that's not justice, that's vigilanteeism and that I don't like in a character. I did like that Kate's murder wasn't self-defence, that it was a crime and presented as such.I think it's the moral relative character vs the moral absolute character thing for me again. It's why I expect better conduct from a souled slayer or a cop than a soulless vampire or a thief and can take the latter stumbling and making mistakes but not the latter because they're not claiming the moral absolute high ground.

Though I am seeing ME cooties with the whole 'I hate that I fancy you, so I'm going to hurt you but you deserve it' thing. Eeep. Sawyer, Run away, run away.

Why are they burying people where any typhoon winds/waves are going to expose the rapidly decaying bodies? The jungle would be much better.
Also tarps are really useful in tropical rainfall conditions and in guarding sleeping skin from parasite infestation - and I've seen them eating their way out; it's not something anyone in their right mind would want. Why are they wasting the tarps on the dead? Palm fronds would do the job of covering them up without damaging survival chances.

Poor Sayid. Gavin looked unexpectedly ripped - though I'm sure Lilah is suitably appreciative, being with The Others plotting their next move as she undoubtably is. Bernard better look out too;)

And that island clearly has a zoo on it, as no natural tropical habitat has horses, polar bears, chickens and wild boar.

Veronica Mars I loved the Logan/Weevil fight. Best thing in the episode. Can we say sublimation much? I think we can. It might even result in a ficlet - which is good as I'm blocked to hell on what I should be writing. The two guys working together amid factions of the PCHers not buying it could be good. I did like Logan using his brain to ambush Weevil. I loathed Veronica's smirk at Weevil on the pole - that wasn't the girl I liked in the show opener, or the one that got the Lily influenced lift from Weevil that saved her life in this season's opener.
I loathed her not calling Donut on his shit about not telling his mother that they were together. Where's the strong character of last year, writers?

Why faff around with electronic babies in sex education? Just get them rolling condoms on bananas and instructed in safe sex. It's what we got and there weren't any babies in the bog at the school discos. Ok, one guy did a months long hoax that he got his girlfriend pregnant so he got let off tons of A Level homework, but was exposed in the end and expelled.

Speaking of bog babies - loved, loved, loved the Clemmons playing Veronica of it. Can see the thematics of VM needing to explore what her mum was like but I don't buy the she was really nice end twist - not with how she turned out. I can buy the psych of how Aaron treated his kids. It's the adored , indulged Chosen Child and the scapegoat, abused Biological Child dynamic I've seen in RL - but I don't see him and Wife Number One adopting a kid at that time. It's also too soapish throughout the who's Trina's parents thing and fell ultimately flat for me.

As did AH's acting. Having her play a bad actress at full pelt didn't do her any favours. It got rather hard to see any divide between Bad Acting and bad acting. The CC-AH scene not helping much there either. It wasn't a wink at the audience so much as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick that left me unable to take in anything happening in the scene in question - not that much did.
I think it was supposed to, but it all fell very flat - assisted with CC's complete inability to generate sexual heat or add layers to a very, very one note character, Donut's stale bakery product acting and some bad lines for JD. Boy the exposition fairy was wearing her lead lined boots in this one.

Pregnant Meg - like that was a surprise.

The alt ending - would have been cooler - but serious overkill in a season stuffed full of overkill. Overkill on characters that mean no pace. Overkill on pile the misery onto the scapegoat character and expect us to buy it because the lead's nice to someone else. Overkill on 09er Veronica and especially overkill by VD. Time to splat the Donut, Rob.

I really didn't miss Wallace again. Could he be the one on 6, please.

No Jackie. Yay!

Ew, rat. Not a good companion for the food items.

I still think that if they want a Triangle and Class/Race Issues, Logan/Veronica/Weevil was exponentially the better way to go.

Cassidy/Mac was adorable. They have the potential to be massively successful rich 09ers in a happy marriage where Mac has occasional flings with small blonde girls. And if Cassidy isn't smart and ruthless enough to crush Kendall when she tries to run off with the money, Mac certainly is.

Bringing up the rear, Desperate Housewives Go, Gabby. Get that nun.
Lynette hoist with her own petard.
Susan really is annoying.
Loved, loved, loved Bree letting George die. Go girl. Also her breakdown in the lift - good acting.

I think we're doomed to always throw Buffyisms into any show we watch.

:) Definitely.

Bernard should be very, very careful. Lilah has Issues.

Well, she already chopped his head off once. Oh, wait, that was the other guy. It was Angel, Dru, and Darla that killed Holland, wasn't it?

And, yes, Lilah is the Sexiest Other of the All.

Yup. Lilah decapitated Linwood with the best Palm accessory program ever. Holland was part of the Lawyer Buffet.

She so is. Complete with designer camoflague gear

Linwood showed up on 'House' this week as a surgeon.

Maybe giving Gavin and Bernard false memories and sticking them on the island is Lilah's revenge? ;)

The island would work as a W&H holding dimesnions very nicely, right down to the no escape possible Others as guards/takers of those that got pulled in as collateral damage.

As someone who apparently never pays attention to the tv, did the Meg was pregnant thing come through because the A plot always reflects the B? Or just when you saw her belly blocked with the trays? Just curious because again, me not really watching enough to notice the little hints. Once they did the reveal, I was all about the "well obviously."

posted by [identity profile] paratti.livejournal.com at 10:16pm on 01/12/2005
There was the A reflects B factor, but the size of her belly with the leads on it and the two monitors for two life signs were pretty clear. Even apart from the earlier weeks making it pretty likely that she was pregnant.

Seriously... you said pretty much everything I thought about the episode.

Oh, and Logan/Weevil is so my VM slash OTP.

Thanks:) The scene in the bathroom was fabulous and totally on in the way the Duncan/Logan fight failed miserably at.

Just like LJ is failing at sending me my comments. Lashes it to the flagpole.

LOL! I didn't see LOST this week, dammit, but you crack me up. I'm not sure why you're watching it--you hate the characters, you thought the whole crash scenario was ridiculous, and so forth. And yet you watch it. I think I love you. :)

I have to watch so I can understand what my FL is talking about. Plus the possibility for mockage is irresistible.

It was a Kate episode, so you didn't miss much. But we got some brooding Sayid and a shot of an impressively ripped Jin emerging from his tent with Sun after an obviously happy night. So, you know, happy.

Re:Lost-- Why are they making these mistakes? Because you know shit they writers don't. I bet they've never been to the jungle. *Loves you and your unfailing ability to point out the flaws in these things*

I see your point re: Ana-Lucia. Still, I find her interesting, because I'd rather see her than characters like Shannon and Claire who sit around asking others to take care of them. At least she is portrayed as feeling guilt for what she did, even if she is surpressing it. She definitely belongs on an inpatient PTSD ward. She wasn't fit for duty anymore. However, I love the actress, and she holds my attention. I mean, everyone on that island seems to be there for some kind of new beginning -- some kind of redemption, salvation, etc.

Kate had the most nonsensical reason for killing someone that I have ever heard, IMO. I found it very thin. She annoys me because on one hand she can be capable and take care of herself, on the other hand the writers try to make her all emotionally fucked up, in ways that make little sense to me. And I can usually stretch pretty far. I think it may be Evangeline Lily's limitations as an actress. IMO they really do show, no matter how cute the show's creators think she is.

I actually have a feeling that relationship-wise, Sawyer can hold his own.

And yes, I would like to celebrate Jin's upper torso. That was a very nice entrance.*g*

It is a show I tend to think I may have done too much travelling in too many funky places for me to watch without going, "Oh really!" every few minutes, but it's interesting ot break up and see why peole go for certain characters, issues in it.

Kate's motivations were wacked, but so I fear are the writers.

Ol Gavin has definitely been working out. Pictures the W&H in house gym and steam room. Goes to bunk.

The show is like a huge psych test. Both the characters, and the people watching.

Gavin and Lindsey in the steam room. Very nice, indeed.
