It wasn't 'Blink', was it? I think the main problem was the direction. It was just that bit too slow and without really snappy direction the essentially static Angels just aren't as scary. The dwelling just a little too long on each beat, both action and character, also didn't help the human-gallifreyan drama. It made River shade into smug rather than rogue-awesome and the relationship work a tad too ponderous. That also wasn't helped by the Matt-Amy chemistry overshadowing the Eleven/River. That its a two-parter didn't help as it also suffered from too much set-up over dramatic pay-off.
As an atheist, I also wasn't happy that come the 51st Century we're still afflicted as a species with churches and sky bullies. I know there must have been a temptation to add a church antagonist to villains called Angels, but added to there still being a monarchy on Spaceship England a Church of England Militant is just plain depressing.I'm assuming CoEM rather than New Model Army 2 as there are bishops and not the Catholic Church as no rosaries or associated props.
I can see the image attraction of River's intro in Limo Shoes, but she did lose cool points for wandering around holding them and so presumably getting cuts to her feet, rather than leaving them in the TARDIS and changing into boots of practical awesomeness.
Having your guest know how to fly the TARDIS better than our main character also sides too far into Sue-ness and will probably backfire on the character in the fandom. Which is a shame as I like River's character type and am an easy sell for a well done rogue of either and all genders.
The expansion of the Angels threat into images, graven or video, was cool, as is the thought of becoming one, but would have benefited from sharper directing like everything else.
This sounds like I hated the ep. I didn't. It just should and could have been an awful lot better.

I thought it was just me. My viewing was disturbed by the arrival home of one soggy and very muddy terrier (plus soggy husband) in need of a sink bath.

I liked Amy in this -- Loved River...
But felt something missing or is it off?

Maybe Amy hearkens back to some equally annoying companion of yore, but she really is terrible when compared with Rose, Donna and Martha.
This episode just made me long for the heroine of "Blink" - if only Carey Mulligan hadn't become such a big star! Sally Sparrow would have made a fabulous companion to Eleven, The Weirdest Doctor Ever. It would have been a pairing for the ages. Instead we get this irritating child. Bad move, Moffat. Please replace her ASAP.
Still, I liked River and the bishop (I love Iain Glen!) and I still found the Weeping Angels to be scary as hell.
