Meep.
Goes vegetarian. As hello, those burgers, so made of people.
And Maggots. Phobia Issues. Hides behind cushion.
The wilder parts of the British Countryside. As Dog Soldiers and American Werewolf tells us, best to be avoided if one is not to end up in Gruesome Horrible Death territory. And while there was gruesome there wasn't gratuitous, which was good, while there was major meepage. There were nods to the American Slasher genre, especially the avoid the inbred locals of Doom, but with the very British spin - those policemen were clearly part of the family business, as hello, brought up on Hammer Horror as well as Who. But twas a good example of the genre.
As lots of Meep as the Simple Human Evil episode.
And Shaun of The Dead riff with the lets barricade ourself in the pub. Pines for the 'Don't Stop Me Now' soundtrack. And barricading oneself in the boozer - also very British.
Along with camping.
About which, those guy-ropes were a bit slack. Jack needs to give his team rope lessons.
Gets the whiteboard out to draw the interrelationships between the Torchwood folk.
I liked that Teaser Driver had the sense to take a baseball bat to check the body in the road, even if she did an Owen with the keys. Moral, take the fucking keys with one at all times and lock the fucking car.
Though it did give us rescue by tractor, which was cool.
As was Tosh getting lots to do and the promise of some girl on girl for her next week.
And Gwen/Owen this week, which was surprisingly hot. She's very naughty for being unfaithful to Ryhs, but puts it down to the Peril Reaction and the inevitable tensions of not being able to talk about the job, so understands, plus, they do have chemistry. I thought that tree was going to combust, and the job talk it morphed into was also surprisingly hot.
Angst and fallout from Cyberwoman - definitely of the good.
Ianto's incredibly nerdy dayback, strangely adorable.
Scary farm shit - never not scary. Again, see Dog Soldiers. Resolves never to go camping in the wild bits of Britain without a squad of the SAS and Adam Carter. A girl has needs, after all and he's nuts enough to cope.
Jack's not the best leader in the world, as there was too much people going off on their own, but they did mostly do sensible pairing up type things and took weapons, which was good.
As was the episode.
Sorry about being so quiet over the weekend. I got hit with food poisoning on Friday night and in between getting very little sleep, trying to rehydrate and starve it out of me I was pretty much wiped out. But I'm feeling much better now and to come, a round-up and bit on Heroes.

This ep of Torchwood was fairly queasy-making, but in some ways it was my favorite ep so far...

It was very Dog Soldiers and I love that film.

Yes and yes! I think the interrelationships in Torchwood are shaped like a wheel with Jack in the middle with a spoke in everyone. He's a crap leader but a great centre of sexual gravity.
