With the post watershed airing they could go further on the body horror aspect of the Cybermen and they did and I enjoyed it - especially as it still wasn't that gory, though paradoxically the uber body horror Real Time is my favourite new Old Skool Cyberstory. Then they topped it with Cyberwoman vs Pterodactyl - which was cool. I did like the barbeque sauce way of telling the pet what was lunchable. Lisa had as much Metropolis in her ancestry as the Cybermen - which both fits with the Art Deconess of the new Cyber backstory/design as well as the post watershed attitude to flesh. About which, dehumanising attitude professor seemingly signed his own death warrant/ failed upgrade when he connected those unfinished connections. And can I just say, that eyehole - Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Ianto got his big episode and it both revealed more about the events in Doomsday as well as giving Ianto a truly epic dose of PAIN and adding him to the list of fuck ups on an epic level that are our boys and girls. I liked that they touched on the salvagability question, though the tilt point seemed to be passed by Ianto and Lisa's own choice, even if it was meant to be to try and get her breathing and so mobile again. She'd certainly passed the point of non-salvagable once she tried upgrading the professor and nicking the pizza girl's body for a brain swap both was fucking chilling as well as showing with no doubt that she really had lost the point of being human, setting up the rightness of the choice of the other three to shoot her as well as showing how fucked up Ianto is that he still couldn't do the job. Jack really is trying to get himself mortal again by getting killed and its telling that he didn't challenge the charge of being a monster - he clearly has moments when he thinks that what he is. We all know he's loved like that before and it's what's landed him in his present predicament. Irony love. I enjoyed it and the peril-angst-humour kept me involved, though it wasn't a Doomsday as Chibnell is no RTD. Gwen was very naughty in kissing back as was Owen in going in there, though Owen does continue to improve with the whole unselfish rescue thing. I'm sure the Jack/Ianto shippers will be happy with the kiss as well as the angsty conflicty goodness. All so beautifully fucked up with the blood and shooting issues were a bonus. And next week looks set to bring more of Jack's backstory of being stranded for a really long time. *Bounces*
In other news. Fireworks very pretty. Cold and fumes when added to asthma very irritating.
And the definition of frustrating. Knowing that my Xmas present of The Invasion is being delivered to the parents house instead of here (like last year's Box Set) so I own Animated Two! Jamie! Zoe! and the Brig! but I can't get my claws on my copy until Crimbo. *Howls*

The backstory should be good.

Annoyingly, Lisa reminded me much more of the Borg than the Metropolis woman. The Metropolis woman would have been an improvement.
Did enjoy Owen and Gwen snogging in the cupboard, though. Heh.

The Borg factor is always weird as the Cybermen predate them by decades.
They were both very naughty.
