Losing ones Veronica to Dexter
Or Lost: AKA The Culling of the Character Doubles. Eko the man of faith - or not - dies in the arms of the man of faith from the beginning of last season. Sayid snarks at Desmond, the soldier with the missing girlfriend that loves him, ahead of his pretty inevitable demise - probably after an episode where we find that Sayid and Desmond faced each other across the desert in the mother of all battles.
I wasn't surprised that they offed Eko. It meant they offed all the main tallies - so letting them put a line under that whole storyline. Though, writers, WTF were they doing wasting the whole season like that. And Bernard, I'd stay in the jungle with Rose if I were you. They might just forget you that way, or allow you to live as Rose's handbag carrier.
It seems I'm destined never to see Hurley eaten:( He's clearly the Dixon of JJ's newer show and will just sit there being annoying and superfluous to the end of the show when they still won't off him but will character assassinate all the interesting characters instead:( Sorry, Alias Issues.
I know these idiots still haven't learnt to expedition properly, haven't carried out a skill inventory, established rotas or anything remotely sensible like that, but you'd think that even they would think not to put a man with open wounds on sand or dirt. Yes, without antibiotics and tetanus shots he's probably fucked anyway, but people, that's what the blue taps they've wasted on the dead are ideal for. Wash 'em down with boiled water and then lay the wounded down on it, away from the germ infested dirt. And then you keep someone with him (especially as you're not sort of people doing nothing), pouring water down his throat at any opportunity and making sure he doesn't go walkabout to not repent and get killed by smoke monsters. Come on, people, it's not hard. It's basic common sense.
Sorry, yes, wrong show. Must Remember That. It's JJ. He does good roller-coaster when he's involved. Good sensicle plottiness, not so much.
Repeats to self.
On to VM: I take it the US either doesn't have a Data Protection Act or the moron that just sent a complete stranger a list of clients names, addresses and telephone numbers broke it. Either way, I'm horrified.
I'm also really wondering why new viewers would possibly like Wallace. From not punching the lights out on racist abuser guy in the illegal experiment episode he's now added cheating to his resume. Do the writers think this is the way to get new audience members with no investment in the guy to like him? I know they haven't exactly done Veronica much in the way of favours in this respect, but writers - not smart, really, really not smart.
And I know the actor that plays him is probably one of the cheaper members of the cast to use, but he showed last year that he sucks at carrying his own storylines, so really, really not expecting much out of him here and thinking that repeating the exercise is somewhat on the seriously dumb side. I know for none story reasons he's been kept, but he'll probably end up like Pointless Pete on Smallville - where the same sex potential BFF (Chloe) was also the better actor - anyway, but that show had the luxury of ratings this one can't afford to lose by keeping weak links for season after season. Expel him. Use the money for some actual Mac time. She fills the story niche of BFF much better and acts better too, plus Veronica with a best girlfriend, much more likely to make Veronica more appealing to the girl audience the CW needs to justify keeping such a poorly rating show.
I was horrified at how Weevil looked last time. He looked worse. I worry. I know the US medical system has major problems, but the CW, please, get the boy fixed up. He looks ill and that's not only worrying to audience members invested in the character but deeply distracting too.
I didn't have any problems with Veronica taking back her necklace from the repulsive little brat. I'd have not only done that, I'd have made sure she ended up in care too. I did have massive problems with her treating Weevil as a show and tell exhibit and her immediate jumping to conclusions he did it. I know that any new viewers would have just been shown not to leap to conclusions re poor Weevil, who is trying, bless him, which is good - but it really didn't help how V came across at all - which was not good. V - listen to Backup, who I suspect is probably a Logan/Weevil shipper since he likes both boys.
As I associate the Mr Roboto with the freakish and ten yards too slow England striker, Peter Crouch, I was utterly and completely taken out of that scene.
They're really trying to keep Keith front and centre, aren't they. I suppose it's understandable moneywise to get the best value they can from employing the actor and I do like that it's not all campus stories, but it is a bit glaringly obvious when we've had episode after episode without certain regulars - like Mac, for example.
And I echo the thoughts of many at being disgusted if the writers go with the 'feminists' made it all - or most of it - up to get at the men.
And in other news, Dexter continues to to rock my socks so much that I'm just sitting there watching and loving.
