Or the Torchwood-Spooks Crossover o' Doom! Complete with geek in the Thames House basement and it seems clear that even in the Evol Not Run by Harry Peirce parts of Thames House the hot ethnic minority agent tends towards a short lifespan, though I don't give the Anti-Gwen who put a bomb in Jack's stomach much of a chance either. I suspect Gwen will bitch-slap her into next week but I'll take Ros Myles or Lucas too:)

Otherwise, we had the big set up episode with time for character work especially on the main relationships between Jack/Ianto and Gwen/Ryhs, which clearly follow on from the play. J/I are in the debating the label on the relationship stage and the mortal/immortal issue gets reflected by Jack's relationship with his daughter and grandson and how difficult it is for her and was for her mum. G/R have something new and fantastic at ultimate risk and which highlights the risks of her job and the gender flip of the usual roles they have in this this show. We get Ianto and his sister's family's situation on a rough council estate of talented joyriders and the brother seen out with a guy out in the open and how it is taken as just there with the usual level of family joshing.

Martha's on honeymoon and Colonel Mace is in Canada, so we get new UNIT guy (so we don't know where he'll stand on the new UNIT spectrum) and new civil servant girl who'll clearly be a vacancy filler in place of the dramatically effective plot twist who was the very pretty but Anti-Zaf (Spooks ref) Rupesh.

We get the Banality of Evil in the form of Civil Servant Head Honcho complete with his own Connie-Anti Ruth (more Spooks refs) and untrustworthy and out of his depth Prime Minister. All complete with a clearly long-standing plot to infiltrate Torchwood.

Torchwood pay really well.

Sending children off to aliens never work well. Did these politicians not liaise with the X Files lot over the pond?

We get humour, especially the going into England bits and the getting the car stolen again.

We get the scary. Stopped and talking in unison kiddies are always scary.

We get more Jack backstory with his existing family and how he can honestly say he would see them every day if he could but how readily he'd use his own grandson.

We get a Jack/Ianto kiss of I have a bomb in my gut, now Go! And him telling both of his surviving team who he cares about to go.

Not much Rhys, but he was adorable.

Great Gwen.

All ending on a BANG of a cliffhanger.
