Supernatural , why, oh why, oh why Supernatural do you fail so badly on race?
I was so happy when the happy married African American/Black British hunter couple turned up and were good guys. I'm going YAY, Show has finally taken steps to balance out the three main African American recurring characters the misogynist arsehole antagonist FBI jerk, the psycho hunter that tortures good vampire Tara and backstabbing soldier. Do we get them allowed to be awesome. No. They don't do the smart things and join forces, even after giving the good ol' boys a well-earned smackdown for opening the gate to Hell. No, they walk into a bar with less than adequate research and a very, very small bottle of Holy Water, so he gets death by Draino (Heathers much?) and she has to be rescued from sexual molestation and death by the white boys (who I love dearly, but it's still well out of order), then they add a side order of she's full of wrath and that's why she's hunting. How is that fucking different to John's motivations for going after the YED that killed his wife, or Sam's re Jess? Oh no, lets slam the black British woman.
Who if she was, as I think Lisa from Torchwood, she probably should have brought the pterodactyl along as an adjunct to the fighting team, though the Cyberkini would be right out - the mosquitoes would be a real pain.
It's a real shame. I loved Dean cape-ying that diem. The deaths were cool. Bobby in a Suit!Bobby being the smart one. Dean telling Sam. Introduction of a strong woman fighter - also badly needed and welcome here - though I'm sure that she, fuelled by Sam's comment on never wanting to see Dean that way again, will face large amounts of hate from the worryingly anti-female regular interest element among the Wincest shippers.
On other points, intro guy was clearly too dumb to live and the stakes have been raised nicely.
It's just a shame that yet another fuck up on race seriously marred it all.

So when do Kara and Kal start repopulating their race, or will that set fire to the straw in the barn?
There needs to be a three-way Clark-Brainiac-Kara showdown this season or I will be most unhappy.
Like I was with vile new editor and the Chloe slams to amp up Lois. If a character is that awesome they don't need another character done down to amp them up. Anything else is just lousy writing.
And keeping to the race thing, I was almost glad not to see the Martian Manhunter again this week after he slipped into 'Mystical Negro' mode last week - which is rather odd since he's meant to be green.
