doctorwhoforum have closed the thread complaining about Stephen James Walker taking LJ users reviews for his own financial gain.
This without the said individual giving an unequivocal non blaming the victims apology to those whose words were taken without their consent.
I wish I could say I was surprised.
I'm not.
Especially given all the attempted derailing of the thread, belittlement of those complaining and complete failure of all too many people to get the basic principle of Want? Ask.
I have to say, I have been very much in two minds about writing a review of this afternoon's Torchwood radio play. The idea of potentially having my words taken for someone else's book without ever asking me for permission and being belittled for objecting to it has, I have to admit, put a really nasty taste to the fandom for me.
I have thought about friends-locking a review, but that would punish the innocent out of all proportion to the guilty, and in a way do what a lot of the entitled have done to women's voices over the years - silence them. I'm not the type of woman to be silenced. I never have been.
I do love the show. I do love to share, as so many of us here on LJ do, our thoughts about it and to discuss them. So I probably will write a review. It will contain a Not to be republished elsewhere without permission. Stephen James Walker, this means you disclaimer on it, as some people seem to need basic courtesy and ethics spelt out to them. I'd suggest others might want to do the same.
I would also like to suggest they contemplate the behaviour of Stephen James Walker if they ever contemplate buying one of his books.
